FCN-Approved Rosin Sizing Agent “FA Series”
In line with SDG initiatives, there is growing interest in paper as a sustainable alternative to plastic.
Sizing agents play a crucial role in controlling liquid penetration in paper products. With their increasing use in food contact applications, these agents must meet stringent safety requirements.
In response to market needs, we have launched our FA Series of rosin sizing agents, which offers performance equivalent to our existing AL and CC Series products. The FA Series has received FDA approval under the Food Contact Substance Notification (FCN) system for indirect food additives.
Our AL and CC Series rosin sizing agents are water-based emulsions made primarily from natural pine resin and are widely used across various paper grades. The new FA Series can be used under the same conditions as the AL and CC Series, with the added advantage of FCN approval for addition rates up to approximately 3% by paper weight—about ten times higher than conventional paper and paperboard applications. This higher addition rate makes the FA Series particularly suitable for applications requiring enhanced water resistance.

- The product is formulated with FDA-listed ingredients and FCN-approved components.
- The FA Series delivers equivalent physical properties and sizing performance to our conventional AL and CC Series. Different grades within the FA Series accommodate a wide range of papermaking conditions, from acidic to neutral pH environments.
- High addition ratios of 2-3% solids per dry weight of paper can be used.

Use Conditions
- This product can be used with conventional equipment for adding rosin sizing agents
- This product is anionic. Avoid mixing directly with cationic chemicals.
- There is a maximum addition ratio depending on the FCN approved conditions for the constituents (see table below).
